White And Green

Late spring brings in more egrets as usual. One Intermediate Egret (Egretta intermedia) is now staying in the lotus fields at Furui-chi. Unlike its smaller relative, the Little Egret, the species shows up only around late spring and early summer. Normally, 1 or 2 birds stay around the area along with Grey Herons and other kinds of egret. This bird has already possessed breeding feathers on its back and neck, but unfortunately the beak was still yellow. I'm still waiting for a flock of Cattle Egret which usually drops by around May and June. These bird are more interesting to take photos when they're in their summer plumage.

It's been raining again and again this week, so the photos look very dark. What happened with the weather this year. It's been raining too much comparing to the last 2 years. Hope there'll be sunshine very soon.

Nice shots of the egrets. Little/Intermediate/Cattle are all a little scarce in Hokkaido.....
