Though I'm a bit sick today, I caught a bus to Rokushou-en in late afternoon. I didn't expect to see much, but I did find one nice bird that I haven't seen for a very long time, the Ryukyu Minivet (Pericrocotus tegimae). I've only seen this Japanese endemic once at Beppu Koen 2 year ago. That time I found 2 birds feeding in a small bird-wave. This time, only a single bird (maybe a male) was seen. The bird wasn't shy, but it kept staying on high canopy and was way too energetic. These shots might not be very decent, but I'm happy to have taken photos of this minivet once again.
