Mating Teals

Hahaha and I finally found out that it is very usual for wild ducks to perform their courtship during the migration. The females mainly benefit from this pairing system by being secured by the drakes. After the birds are paired up, the male bird will protect its pair from other males' harassment, so the female can have more time feeding and preparing for the long migration. I think I'll try going to Oita again if the weather is fine and see if there're any other ducks doing courtship or not, so may be I can get some better shots than this time.
