This morning around Kamegawa, 3 species of herons were standing quietly together in a small canal near the railway, a juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron, a juvenile Grey Heron and a Little Egret. The egret was the first to flush off, leaving the two juvenile birds standing confusingly in the canal. Here are some photos showing how tame they were, juveniles... The photo of the night-heron above was taken without the 1.4x teleconverter while the close-up pic is the one with the converter on.
