Waders are on the way

It's still raining in Beppu today, as well as yesterday, and two days ago also. The weather forecast says it's gonna continue to rain for almost a week. A small flock of Grey-tailed Tattlers are presenting now at Rokushou-en. Most of them are juveniles with one adult in breeding plumage. A very grey morning with plain greyish birds at the dark grey beach...really reminds me of Ani DiFranco's "Grey".

Juvenile bird has whitish fringes to upperwing coverts with dull colored bill base.

They're so good at walking on these slippery rocks.

The only breeding adult with a juvenile in the background

Hmmm...they're really a plain-looking bird

When parching on the rock, they seem to be lazy and still.

My first acceptable flight shot of a wader at close range!

Gotcha! small crab...

Some great Tattler shots.

The weather up here in Hokkaido has been fine and sunny about 75% of the last 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully it'll be heading your way soon.......
