Just arrived back from a 3 days trip to Ariake-kai (有明海) in Saga Prefecture yesterday evening. It was a nice trip with 4 life birds, Saunders's Gull (Larus saundersi), Black-faced Spoonbill (Platalea minor), Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) and Chinese Penduline-Tit (Remiz consobrinus). The bad thing about the whole trip was the sea level which went down too low and didn't seem to rise up very high, so all the birds were mainly like 1 kilometer away from me. I think I'll be back there again in spring, April maybe, before the spring semester begin to see all the spring migrating waders and especially Saunders's Gull in their full bloom breeding plumage. That'd be wonderful, I think.
